The whole putrid response of the right wing to the death of OBL has been amazing. And a real litmus test of whether they have any moral standards other than a desire to grab power at all cost, regardless of the consequences.

They have to, begrudgingly, give Obama credit for the action, although some like Palin can't bring themselves to say his name.

Beyond that, they criticize everything.

I mean -- not one word the President said has been accepted on face value, except that OBL is dead. And some don't trust that. (Others pat themselves on the back self-righteously by saying that since they do believe OBL is dead, they have free rein and full credibility to propose whatever malicious view they can to tear him down.)

Obama told the nation as soon as possible about the death. And with little time to gather all the deails, some facts got reported wrong. Which his team then made efforts to correct.

Gee.. he wanted us to know. How narcissistic of him, to report to his country that the symbol of ten years of war and suffering was dead -- amazing that he thought we'd care to learn about it asap.

I guess he thought we'd have wanted to know. Imagine if he had waited a bit, to get all the eensy weensy details right. It would have leaked out, in dribs and drabs, and then he would have made a statement that would have received even more opprobrium.

Imagine what fertile minds like those on CF and RETCHFire would have done with a delay? Imagine what they would have said if drones had bombed the house and no body was found? Nice try? No chance. Imagine what they would have said if someone of our team was hurt, or if OBL had not been found -- anthing positive? NoFWay. Itw ould all be how he risked our troops lives for personal reasons only -- and let's not mention empty carrier landings and phony claims of Mission Accomplished, exactly 8 years before.

So is it any surprise that an operation which went along with almost no flaws -- a lost helicopter, perhaps the less desireable of the two acceptable outcomes for OBL -- and one that, had Bush pulled it off they would have praised as proof that Bush trumps Napoleon, Hannibal, Washington, Ike, and Pershing as a great war leader -- gets their increasing, cynical, and despicable contempt? Not really.

There is no scenario involving our President telling us anything about this event that wouldn't have been totally blasted by the right. They have no credibility as sober critics of what went down.

For the public at large, this event is a litmus test on which few people on the very right wing have an ounce of intellectual honesty. Very few will pass.
