Linda, I had a friend who worked in the building while they were building it. He said one of the concrete collums did not pass inspection so they worked two weeks with a jackhammer to get it out to replace it. In the scrap from the job he found a bolt and took it home. While working on a tractor he tried to use the bolt but it was too big and got stuck. He gave up trying to get it loose and got out his torch. He could not get it hot enough to cut it out. Finally he heated the metal around it and pulled it out. After all that, the bolt looked new. I do not know what it was made of but it was almost indestructable. For years when there was a tornado warning all the guys who worked there took their families there until the all clear was sounded. BTW, it sounds like the one you went into was very simular. I suggested they least out the vacant space in the local building to homeland security but I was ignored, as usual.

I visited AT&T's Netcong site, which used to be part of the Defense grid. That was very cool. I think it was supposed to take a direct hit. You went through double safe doors to get in. First thing you saw after that was a nuclear [decontamination] shower. Everything was on springs, including the computers and the toilets. The miirrors were brushed metal. Quite an eye-opener. We had some good times . . .
