re: "I'm glad to hear you're happy with your wind turbine or otherwise feel it will work well for you. I wish I had a consistent wind for my own property."

Yes, the wind at my place is pretty reliable. One nice thing about property in the hills (the Green Mountains) is that heating and cooling causes the hills themselves to produce wind every sunrise and sunset. It's a wonder that I haven't seen more wind turbines being used. I HOPE that New Hampshire's bitterly cold weather doesn't make them ineffective or, even worse, damage the turbine. That's actually something I need to research. Minus 20 degrees can do some nasty things to plastic.

Do any of you have relevant experiences, pro or con, that you can share?

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Some of these things we've discussed before but, in any case, I appreciate your timely and thoughtful response. I'm going to exit that silver ETF today if I can get out at current prices. I will try to switch to a gold fund rather than hold dollars.

IF the dollar is going to rebound it needs to do it soon. But what would make a green frog's leg jump when the frog, itself, is dead?

I'm glad to hear you're happy with your wind turbine or otherwise feel it will work well for you. I wish I had a consistent wind for my own property. Buying an energy stream is clearly ONE of the critical steps to security in the years ahead. You don't want to be dependent on oil when the dollar dumps 50% down.
