Linda, I think the companies have employees monitoring them, sitting before a computer screen. I am sure they have a way to remotely shut them down.

dg, I don't know that much about them either, but I read they have an automatic cutoff if the wind's too strong. Does sound like they could use a squirt or two of WD-40, in your scenario. I wonder of the utilities can remotely turn them off if they can't take all the electricity they're generating.

It's astounding with all the hype over renewable that the grid hasn't been updated. All the money's going down the rat holes (aka banks).
