dg, you might want to see if there's a tax writeoff. In addition to the federal govt, many states have them.

ribit, I have been looking for one for my store building. The problem for me is the cost. The windmill that would generate enough power, which is not much, sells for around $800. But then you need probably two batteries which is another $100 and then you need an inverter to convert the DC to AC and they run several hundred dollars. My yearly bill with the power company was about $120. It would take at least ten years to break even and I suspect that replacement for some parts would occur in less than ten years. But if the price comes down I may yet go that route. I do not open the store all that often and do not need that much power.
