Linda, I have noticed that when the wind picks up and gets up above about 25 to 30 miles an hour, many of the wind turbines are shut down. I assume either the company that owns them or an internal mechanism shuts them down. I wonder about the quality of manufacture because sometimes with a small amount of wind, a few will be turning and most will not. That suggests to me that some have less friction than others. But then, what do I know? I never worked in that field.

dg, Really, too much wind? Are you referring to the cutoff wind turbine cutoff when the wind's too strong? Or, the grid not being updated to handle all the generated electric, as you mentioned?
