Guess I should cancel the call to my attorney. ;-) I just catch that story now and then on the news, but it's disturbing that LI has gone down the tubes in recent years with crazies like this. Used to be a really decent place. Still is, but there appears to be a lot of pockets of trouble.
I guess it boils down to population. There's a certain percentage of crazies in any population. The larger the population, the more crazies in the same space, in raw numbers. The nut jobs tend to be more apparent, then. Double the population, double the perps.
