TOTALLY DEPENDS ON THE POLL AND the way the question is asked. ALSO, who was polled. Poll only people over 65 and people getting welfare and the answers will be much different than you will get polling folks in their mid 30's who work 40 to 50 hours a week, earning a living and paying taxes. But then, 50% of Americans no longer work to support themselves.

The two sides are far apart philosophically, and neither enjoys great public confidence: Fifty-eight percent of those polled disapprove of the way the president is handling the budget deficit. Even more — 64 percent — give Republicans in Congress low marks.
