Yep. But it didn't achieve what was intended. On a small scale it resulted in the deaths of numerous individuals who I think were not deserving of that sort of punishment, including important folks like Antoine Lavoisier, the famous chemist (and tax collector). On a grand scale, it ended up with a French dictatorship and a European war.
I sympathise with your outrage and your frustration. But there are better choices.
