I learned about cooking from my grandmother. She always said that if you did not have something called for in the reciept, use what you have that sounds good to you. My soup was meat chunks cooked with a can of mixed vegetables and maybe a little onion. I usually added a few spices. Generally cooked it for three or four hours before eating and then reheated it every day until it was gone. Beans, I soaked over night and then cooked all day Saturday. If cooked less than about ten hours, they are not all that good.
