Japan raises nuke crisis level to max

Japanese officials raised the severity ranking of its nuclear crisis today to the highest possible level early today, making it equal to the deadly Chernobyl catastrophe that sickened thousands.
One officials said it might get even worse than the Ukrainian disaster.
The crippled Fukushima Daiichi plant has been spewing radiation since March 11, when a devastating earthquake and tsunami struck the country.
The government had previously rated the crisis as a 5, which made it akin to Pennsylvania's Three Mile Island crisis in 1979.
But new readings from the country's Nuclear Safety Commission suggested that more radiation had leaked than previously thought, prompting officials to raise the level to 7.
