Well, the BIG 10 has 3 of the top 5 spots.
As we all know, the games are played ON THE FIELD and Miami stunned some opponents with their talent in the playoffs. SO, do rankings really mean anything or just simply inaccurate?
After all, the game is played on the field. Anyone who has played Football on any level knows that.
I do. I played in BIG school division in Ohio for state titles. Our main opponent was Moeller High School. They recruited players from all over the country and enrolled them in their school. We split four games with them. The years we won we won the Big School division state title. The years Moeller won they won the State title..
We were not even ranked in the top five in the city early much less the state.. Voters favored the northern Ohio big schools. Until us and Moeller started beating them head to head. Then they did not want to play us anymore to avoind a loss on theor schedule.
College futzball appears to me to be much the same way.. I never played because I was way too small. I played against guys across the line of scrimmage from them who went on to the pros and it was a long night..
I was a medium sized very strong youngster and those guys were twice my size. Two years my teams went on to win the Ohio Big School division football title. The other two years the Moeller team won it..
The schools that were RANKED to win it all were beaten by us and Moeller.. SO, in my mind, rankings really don't mean a thing. The GAME is always played on the field.. Anything can happen and anyone can explode and have a truly outstanding takeover kind of game.. Adrenalin plays a HUGE role in that also.
SO, let the games begin and see which teams show up to play and ready to go on every game day..
May the Best Big Ten conference team win!
