One of Mamdani's signature programs was to open city government owned & operated grocery stores. He has budgeted a total of $70 million for 5 stores. Unfortunately, Mamdani is now admitting that, because it is being built from scratch, his first Communist grocery store will cost $30 million (almost 43% of his budget and I bet it will actually cost more when it's all said and done!) AND this first store won't be open until 2029. 3 YEARS?!

The time frame Mamdani announced sounds a little like John F. Kennedy's 1961 speech announcing the goal of putting a man on the moon before the end of the decade, except with trash cans. "We do these things not because they are easy, but because there are rats."
