I'm pretty sure it was either the IRS or the congressional skunks who made the tax codes and the forms impossible for mere mortals to properly fill out.
Based upon what I went through to do my taxes under turbo-taxshism and what I just did under H&R Block - it was pretty much the same process.
'They' would take me through the various sections on income, deductions, etc. etc. etc. I plug all the numbers into the program and the program then fills out all the forms. Save as pdf. Print out the relevant pages and off to the Post Office I go. (Don't forget to write the check if one must pay.)
