The Bible was written by men who saw, heard or read things they didn't understand so their feeble minds translated it into something they could understand and they took that and wrote it down so that future generations of people could see, hear and or read these things and be further confused and then further translate it into something they thought they understood only they didn't.

We have not succeeded in answering all our problems—indeed we sometimes feel we have not completely answered any of them. The answers we have found have only served to raise a whole set of new questions. In some ways we feel that we are as confused as ever, but we think we are confused on a higher level, and about more important things.

re: "I won't speak anymore to this group about the Salvation that Christ alone can give to any who would repent and call upon HIM for salvation."

Don’t be upset, micro. I’m not asking questions to undermine your faith. I’m asking because I respect the depth of your knowledge and I’m trying to understand whether what works for you could also make sense to me. As you’ve said, this is an important subject, and I take it seriously.

Just to be clear, I’m not challenging God. I’ve said before that I think the universe was likely created by some kind of intelligence, and I’m perfectly comfortable calling that “God.” My questions are about the Bible itself. It was written by people, and people can be mistaken. So if I’m going to find the truths I’m looking for, I have to look beyond the text and examine the ideas themselves.
