...out there amongst all the theories of evolution is a guy who's name I can't recall who pointed out that the similarities of hands is similar in all mammals. Starts off with one bone at the shoulder two from the elbow to the wrist and five appendeges. They are not exactly alike, but he say that there is enough similarity there for us to realize that somewhere back in time all mammals had a common ancestor.
...or a common engineer I says.
