his homestead is about 35 miles from my house due east.
I have stopped by to see it. It is simple but in sync with those years.
While he was The General along with William Tecumseh Sherman that finally ended that awful war at a terrible cost of lives both north and south, he did what he needed to do in order to win and end this. The ones who paid the price were the soldiers who did the fighting and dying, Lee was a better tactician by far but he was so severely outnumbered he was simply wore down by attrition.
It was a horrible war that should not have happened.
Slavery should never had happened either.
We have come a long way since then.
As a child my father's mother lived in Pennsylvania and her sister lived in Maryland. They did not speak to each other until they were around 80 years old. How sad.... All those lost years of having your sibling to enjoy. I spend time with my older brother all year long. He lives about 5 miles from me.. We are close.
The war divided and split so many families asunder and they lost the joy of being around each other over a war that should have not needed to be fought.
BOTH sides lost... NOBODY won. Families were destroyed. Some were split apart.

He loves us and gave himself as an offering to the Father for our sins so we could be acceptable to HIM.
HE paid the penalty for all our sins so we could appear before HIM as clean without sin. Praise HIM for forever for paying in full my DEBT from my sin to The Father.. And yours too.
Seriously, this is an excellent book that should grab your attention as it has mine.
