First, a little context ... President Trump invited BOTH the women's and the men's U.S. Olympic hockey teams to attend this year's State of the Union Speech - BOTH. The women's team declined his offer, citing unavoidable scheduling conflicts, with the following statement ...
"We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal–winning U.S. Women's Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement," a USA Hockey spokesperson said. "Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate."
The men's team, as a whole, did NOT decline his offer; however, some of the team members will not be able to attend due to their own unavoidable scheduling conflicts - like NHL games they need to play in. So, in short, some of the men's team members might personally accept Trump's invitation and attend tonight's SOTU Speech.

As Twitchy recently reported, Keith Olbermann declared that the women's U.S. Olympic Hockey Team was made up of patriots for turning down an invitation to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, while the men's team was a bunch of "self-absorbed scumbag misogynists" for accepting the invitation. It turns out the women's team wasn't making a political statement; they released a statement saying they were "honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment," but had prior academic and professional commitments.
