The District of Columbia was working on the pipe 1000 ft above the spill site.
They were sleeving the pipe. The pipe is 76 inch dia, they’re putting a 72 “ sleeve in.
Right now they are blocking the down side pipe at the spill and pumping the sewage into the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. The C&O Canal is a National Park Service Historic site, Federal property. George Washington was the first to suggest the canal.
The sewage runs down the Canal to a point past the spill area and they then pump the sewage back into the pipe. So they have open sewage flowing through the National park site.
David Gadis is the DC government guy who is in charge of drinking water in DC. He says the spill won’t affect drinking water safety in DC. Gadis the same guy who was a consultant in Flint who said the water there was safe.
