jes so ya know, yer not alone with this same situation.

MY house does not lose but maybe 5 degrees overnight in winter with NO HEAT on. Its extremely well insulated and the windows are as well. All around them between the bricks and drywall.

I am NOT in favor of a generator either for the once in bi-annual situation at most..

I can git me a propane heater for indoors to keep warm iffen I need to.. Or I can jes leave the home and go over to my daughters house on a different electric grid.

Its reasonably cold here and it is still snowing.

My house with the front entry door system facing directly west has NO air seepage at all as witnessed by a candle in front of it on the floor and NOT flickering.. At some point maybe tomorrow I will figger out how to get to the vehicles and git da snow offa dem.. I have doctor appointments next week..

...mz ribit has been wanting to get a "Generator" to power us thru these once every ten years two day inconveniences. I told her I would do it but there are conditions.

1. It's gotta be kept outside like the air conditioner.
2. It has to be automatic. Iffen da power go off I want the gen to come on and I don't want to see so much as a flickering of the lights.
3. It has to be powered off natural gas cause I am not going to be lugging gas cans or propane tanks all over Toadsuck to keep it running
4. If she has any questions about it's operation she should ask somebody who knows and not me cause I am an idgit. She done "Splained" this to me on multiple occaisions.

5-9 are reserved for anything else I thinks of while sleeping thru the storm.
