More likely the manufacturers will collect Bucks from the government to install them . . . While charging the customers more for having them.

I have NOT forgotten that ALL the brokerage houses in America took to their knees obeying obozo back when he decreed that "ALL brokerage sweep accounts MUST be held in Treasury notes!".

(My Vanguard accounts are more like a frikkin zoo than anything that makes sense ever since then.)

Re: “The government will be able to turn off your car anytime it wants to.”
I've got mixed feelings. Isn't the government able to stop our cars already by lighting them up and hitting a siren? If that doesn't stop your car, other measures SHOULD be taken. So this kill switch might just be a better way of dealing with those who want to make a run for it.

On the other hand, could hackers figure out how to stop other people's cars? If that's possible, then kill switches become an exceedingly BAD idea. Could you imagine a hacker killing all the cars on a freeway during rush hour? Or in a blizzard? My guess is that manufacturers will bend over backwards to ensure that that never happens. They'd better!
