Note that Kelly has 30-days to file an appeal, and besides, he still has the option to demand a court martial himself, which would force Hegseth and the White House to justify their actions, something that I suspect Hegseth finally realized that they would have not been able to do in front a judge advocate and a panel of Kelly's fellow officers. Hegseth may think that this is over, but I suspect that it's not.
