Re: “This is just simple racism. There is no way that honoring ANY American member of the military could be seen as being a DEI issue.”

Incorrect. It's DEI if the honoring was because of skin color.

The panels in question were erected in September, 2024, to quell complaints from the black community that they were underrepresented. Blacks represented just 2% of the cemetery's 8,000+ occupants. They hadn't played a big role in the fighting. One of the two removed panels, in fact, honored Pvt. George H. Pruitt, who drowned a month AFTER the war. The other was rotated out, not eliminated. That is standard practice at the museum/cemetery visitor center. The panel honored those who constructed the cemetery... which is pathetic when you think about it and consider that 8,000 others who didn't receive such attention DIED.

If you look at the panels shown below, you'll see that none were major additions to the museum. I'm not certain which ones they were... I have yet to find a readable photograph of either. There is no way that President Trump specifically ordered their removal. In fact, the panels were erected by the American Battle Monuments Commission and were removed by that same American Battle Monuments Commission to comply with the new policy eliminating DEI. The determination that the panels were DEI was theirs - and who would know better?

Removing the panels was not racist. President Trump banned a racist government program. The American Battle Monuments Commission followed his order.

You really should look into this kind of thing before opening your mouth and sounding foolish.
