Are you sure that is not a 'participle' sire?

A participle is a verb form that can function as an adjective, describing a noun while also showing features of a verb, such as tense and voice. In English, there are two main types of participles: present participles (ending in -ing) and past participles (often ending in -ed or irregular forms).
