just wait till yer our age. You'll really enjoy that then. I think ya should consider putting down large heat strips on yer drive so all ya got to do is plug it in and let them melt a couple tracks fer ya..

Do you purchase ice melt by the truckload or train car load????

I would not want to do all that. I could not do all that you did. But I'm glad you still can..

We had maybe 6" come down, so it wasn't worth breaking out the snowblower. I grabbed a shovel and:

o Shoveled the front steps.

o Shoveled a 10' x 30' yard in the back for the dog to do his business in. Naturally, he ignored it and went in the deep snow anyway. What's the point of being outside if you can't fool someone into stepping in your crap?

o Shoveled a single track for the car or a person to use, from the house to the barn, halfway down the driveway. This is the part of the driveway that I cleared mid-storm with the truck before it died, so it was only 3" deep. I'll need to shovel a second track for the car some other time - though we aren't supposed to get any more snow for a week. Maybe it will melt! (Not likely. Our high in the coming week is forecast to be today's 32°.)

o Shoveled a 50' path to the barn's upper entrance, then shoveled its ramp.

o Shoveled a single track down the rest of the driveway. If the car can drive on one track, it's good to go!

o Shoveled the car.

o Shoveled the entire driveway (not just one track) from the car to the street. This included taking out a plow wall that fortunately wasn't very big.

o Shoveled my neighbor's driveway We share the first 20' of HIS driveway before we veer to the right. The part that is solely my neighbor's is only 30 feet, so why not shovel it? His car was gone so it was easy.

o Shoveled a second track for the car to use going a quarter of the way back to the house. This is the steepest part of the driveway. If there's any part I don't want turning to ice, this is it.

I walked the rest of the way back.

I didn't read your article. Does it say that I'm too old to spend four hours doing this? Right now, my arms and back are inclined to agree.
