As far as engineers go, we have plenty of great Engineering Colleges in this country and very bright students who attend them. I would also say that that todays engineering graduate is likely better equipped than I was way back when I was one of them graduating.
The great thing about engineering of any discipline is that you NEVER stop learning and adding to your knowledge base.. Secondly, I might add, if you are not inquisitive and questioning you don't make for a very good engineer either.
And yes, even in my seventies I still use a lot of what I learned both in Engineering college and in applying that knowledge over four major indistries in the U.S. Including Grumman Aerospace.
I also was on the tean that designed and built the very first assembly like pick and place robotic arms for General Motors.
I was not and am not a brilliant one. There are lots far and away galaxies better than me. I found out how inferior I was after spending day with an Israeli Physicist.
I admire the youngsters going to Engineering college today because they are the ones who will be pushing the boundaries and bringing new things to life that we will all benefit from..
