...the turning off the wifi is a good idea. I will give that a shot.

...on microsoft updates there are three choices
1. Accept Microsoft Updates Now!
2. Accept Microsoft updates Later!
3. Accept Microsoft Updates while you aren't looking.

It appears that Microsoft only wants me to use my computer to buy stuff I don't need with money I don't have to impress people I don't like.

By default, TurboTax saves tax files in the My Documents TurboTax folder.

But somehow I don't think that is right. I'm thinking that it stores the files in the 'program files' sub-directory under turbo tax. But I could be wrong. I'm also pretty sure that there is a save-as sort of thing which brought up the standard file save dialog box where I could choose where to store the pdf file. But that was last march when I was doing all that mess.

I also like to wipe out the drive and use AOMEI to install a fresh un turbo-taxed OS on the computer. Turn on the wi-fi box and allow the computer to access the internet. Install turbo tax and allow it to update . . . Then turn off the wifi and do my taxes. NEVER allowing the computer to access the internet until after I've wiped the drive again.
Zim.
