Re: “And the only thing I do on the danged thing IS my taxes.”
Do you recall what beefs you had with it?

As I said, I had to fix things. At the very start, I turned off OneDrive, buried Microsoft Edge and installed the OS shell that makes Windows 11 look and feel like Windows 7. I made right-clicking on an icon return the same choices that were given under Windows 10. I moved the "Start" button into the lower left corner. There may have been some other things I did that I've forgotten, but the system is now very similar to how it was under Windows 10 - and not wildly different from how it was under Windows 7.

With Dragon Naturally Speaking gone I had to learn how to use Voice Access and Windows Speech Recognition. I also had to write a menu driven template-to-clipboard loader. That works extremely well and runs whenever I type Ctrl-Alt-P.

Copilot - which is free and unlimited - is the best thing since sliced bread. Without it, I guess I'd have to start paying for Grok or Chat GPT, 'cuz for me there's no going back to life without AI.

I'm not a Luddite. I never have been. I like change that make sense. But I detest change that is for change's sake or is for someone else's benefit. At this point, I'd say the changes brought about by Windows 11 have been a net benefit to me. In fact, there's no question of it. The last time a comparable improvement was introduced was when internet browsers came along. But YMMV. I'm doing a lot of interesting coding nowadays. Copilot made that possible.

I think . .
It was two years ago now that I learned turbo tax would NOT work with 32 bit windoze 10.

So I was forced to 'invest' in a windoze 11 box. And the only thing I do on the danged thing IS my taxes.

I also learned that the 'new tech' involves a teeny tiny hard drive about the size of a USB stick which looks like a teeny tiny circuit board which is bolted on to the mother board. Fortunately, the darned thing does have SATA plugs internal.
