The Republican Senate actually could pass the CR and reopen the government today. It only takes 51 Senators to eliminate the filibuster rule.

AND THAT IS PRECISELY WHAT THE DEMOCRATS WANT.

President Trump is DEAD WRONG in encouraging almost demanding the elimination of the filibuster.

The filibuster is OUR LAST DEFENSE AGAINST TOTALITARIANISM - or MOB RULE to be more precise.

Yes, I argued for it's elimination in years gone by, but I was dead wrong on the issue. IT MUST STAY.

The "Schumer shutdown" continues, as does the Democrat effort to pin the blame on Trump and the Republicans while hoping that nobody knows how things currently work in the U.S. Senate.

The House Democrats are sticking to this talking point this week:

House Democrats (@HouseDemocrats) ~ Your daily reminder that Republicans control the House, Senate and White House. They could reopen the government TODAY if they wanted to.

Democrats are so childish and brain-dead that all they can do is mindlessly say the same thing over and over and over, like a one-trick pony.

Sorry, lil' tykes, but you were wrong yesterday, you are wrong today, and you will be wrong tomorrow ... the Republicans have been voting (14 times and counting) consistently to re-open the federal government, but at least 6 Democrats have to vote "yes" in order to reach the 60-vote filibuster threshold and Democrats are intentionally using the government shutdown as "leverage"(their very own words). No party "controls" the U.S. Senate unless it has 60 of the 100 members, so - since there are only 53 Republican senators - your statement that the Republicans "control the U.S. Senate" is an out-and-out lie. 

The Republicans can't reopen the government with the Democrats doing this:

And how can the Senate Dems manage to keep the government shut down even though the Republicans have the majority in that body and the House, and also have Trump in the White House?
