welp,

we'll see who is left standing in the playoffs.

I heard these same stories and mantras all last season as well. How'd that work out?

Ohio State gets NO respect from the south and especially southern sports writers. The Bias is almost suffocating.

Been that way as long as I can remember. We just don't pay attention to it anymore.

Yes, certainly several SEC teams are good thise season.
If the coaches want to keep their jobs they had best try NOT to be on the losing end very often..

I like the SEC contenders this season because they aren't the same old teams. The Aggies and Ole Miss are my favorites followed by Vandy!

But, just like y'all, I do have to have loyalty to my in state teams, one who plays for national titles and the other just to have a winning season..

The "other" is my Alma Mater.

As for "testing", ask the teams they already played and see what they think.. We beat the best from the SEC last year in the playoffs when it counts.

We also lost 26 players to the NFL.. And have regrouped with the next man up method.. Don't fall asleep on the Hoosiers. They're for real.. They will give Ohio State a real challenge..

So we'll just let the playoffs sort it out once again.

Arch has a second year under his belt so we can remove the freshman excuse this season. This is Sayin's first year as a starting QB and he is doing very well.

Hopefully we get to play each other. I like the Aggies and Ole Miss and Vandy. ALL are better than Texas imo.

Should be an interesting national playoff..

As far as scheduling goes, you'll have to talk to the Big Ten league office and file a complaint. Ohio State nor any other Big Ten makes its own schedule for the conference games. They just play them..

Its funny how even the majority of southern sports writers like Ohio State at the top of the polls.

And yet, they haven't played anybody.... That is a tad perplexing.. I certainly can't explain it nor why the contrast.

Oh well, as I said, the game is played on the field.
I hope we get to play some of these teams from the SEC. Its the only way to get a good idea of how they measure up.. And last year's measuring was decidedly won by Ohio State. And still they get no respect..

Heh heh heh heh heh ... I got no goat to get, my friend. You'll need to talk to zzshart about goats.

Hmmm ... you're doing a little bit of wishful thinking, there, micro. In all honesty, I think this year's Ohio State team is most definitely NOT as good as last year's team. Don't get me wrong, this year's team is definitely a playoff contender, but it has yet to be tested and it is not going to be until the playoffs start. The Big 10 only has three teams of playoff caliber - Ohio State, Indiana & Oregon. Iowa, Nebraska, USC & Michigan are respectably average, but the rest are quite mediocre. And this year, Ohio State plays NONE of them, except for the somewhat beleaguered Michigan Wolverines. The SEC, on the other hand, has seven playoff caliber teams - Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Tennessee & Missouri. And, while I do not believe they will make the playoffs this year, Texas, Oklahoma & LSU are talented and strong enough to take any team the Big 10 has to offer in a head-to-head match.

Yes, Ohio State & Indiana are currently ranked #1 & #2 in the beauty pageant polls, but based on strength of schedule, I cannot honestly agree that they are the "two best teams." I truly believe the top seven SEC teams would come out ahead more often than not in head-to-head match-ups with the top three Big 10 teams. But, as you say, that is what the playoff system is for.

Of course, it remains to be seen who will ultimately make the playoffs this year, but the SEC contingent will be far more battle-tested than the Big 10 teams once the playoffs commence. We'll just have to see how it all plays out when it comes to nut-cuttin' time.
