Classic errors in logic throughout that article. Presumption of cause and effect - with little to no evidence on correlation.

How about a simple FIRST test ?

What is the COST per energy unit (kwh) in Europe vs the United States ? Be willing to be it's a heckuva a lot higher in Europe than in the US - for a variety of reasons, wind energy (extremely high cost, high percentage of EUROPE supply), taxes (ditto) ?

Higher cost COULD cause a lot lower 'consumption'/usage.

Then - what's the average TEMPERATURE difference twixt the two, ditto humididitty, etc. ?

Naw, let's jis go with the ASS-U-ME-tion, that Americans are just bigger users cuz everythin's bigger and better here.

Personally, the figures being used for American consumption, per person, seem waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy to high.

Perhaps there could also be the tiny problem of mixing industrial/commercial/individual usage all in to the same pot, and stirring with a big spoon.

Guilting 101 exercise from the Propaganda-R-Us crowd ?

Michael A. Arouet (@MichaelAArouet) ~ Can someone please explain why an average American needs twice as much energy as an average European?

Mr. Arouet's question received some immediate answers ...

Matt Bramanti (@mattbramanti) ~ Great question ... thanks for asking. It's to power our dramatically higher material standard of living.

We may also be a bit cocky.

Who ... US??? Nah.

Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) ~ Because America is awesome and Europe is a sweaty, non-air conditioned, zero-growth mess.

There is lots of body odor there in Europe.

Tim Carney (@TPCarney) ~ Half of the difference is air conditioning. Half of the remainder is refrigerating our milk. Then, there are the ice cubes in our water. Finally, we have to light up stuff like this.

AG (@AGHamilton29) ~ The average American lives in a home that’s 2X the size of an average person in Europe, owns more cars per capita, and even has access to working air conditioning in the summer. We live very different lifestyles.

To be clear, the American lifestyle is preferable and better.

el gato malo (@boriquagato) ~ It's because Europe is poor relative to the U.S. The ability to produce and use energy is literally what makes you rich and enables high standards of living.
Uploaded Image

Smokes Lets Go (@RoysEnergy) ~ Because Europe sucks and the USA is #1. Any more questions?

Peter Jacobsen (@PeterPashute) ~ It's so our elderly don't die when it's 85 degrees outside.

We respect our elders. We might stick them in assisted living homes, but we keep them cool.

Ya hear dat, ribit ... we're gonna keep ya cool, ya old fart!

Guy Benson (@guypbenson) ~ We are more productive & wealthier. We want and can afford a more comfortable lifestyle and are free to make these choices for ourselves.

We can also freely tell the truth about the mooslim death cult and not get arrested for it.

Texas Courtney (@AlaskanCourtney) ~ We shower daily?

G (@TCC_Grouchy) ~ Can someone please explain why the average American would give a damn about how much energy the average European uses? We don't care about Europe, Europe's laws, Europe's energy consumption, etc. ...

Europe is obsessed with America. We are free not to care at all about them.

NeverTweet (@LOLNeverTweet) ~ "Because you are poor, Kenny. YOUR FAMILY IS VERY POOR!"

Connor Boyack (@cboyack) ~ Easy.
Uploaded Image

Crémieux (@cremieuxrecueil) ~ The answer is simple ... America is a much richer place!

And we like it that way.
