Totally agree, Professor.

The second called session is DEFINITELY NOT a "surprise" at all ... Governor Abbott has been saying all along that he will call special session after special session after special session until all of the issues (response to recent flooding, redistricting, etc.) are addressed. The runaway Democrats have always known that the special sessions will not end until the votes take place - with them or without them.

One of their "demands" is that the first special session ends. BWHA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! What a pathetic joke ... everyone knows the first special session has an existing expiration date. As Joe Biden would say ... "big f**king deal" ... another special session will simply be called after the one before expires.

California lawmakers can introduce their lame proposal, but they have some HUGE hurdles to overcome: (1) polls show that two-thirds of the California electorate opposes further redistricting, (2) the existing special districting committee was set up by a proposition overwhelmingly approved by the California voters, (3) California is already extremely gerrymandered - 40% of the California electorate votes Republican, but only 17% of the California congressional delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives is Republican - and they will have to go to extraordinarily extreme lengths to disadvantage Republicans even further, and (4) going to these extremes will open them up to being slapped down by the courts. So, this "demand" is more than likely going to be all show and no substance - much like the cowardly runaway Democrats from Texas, themselves.

First: THE HEADLINE

Gov. Abbott Calls Surprise Special Session As Texas Dems’ Vacation Stunt Falls Apart

BIG ERROR: The call for a new special session is absolutely NOT a 'surprise'. Abbot has stated, repeatedly, before this that he indeed WOULD call another 'Special Session'. He did.

Second: On the 'return of the demoncraps'

Democratic Caucus said that the lawmakers will return on two conditions, both of which are expected this week. First, that the Texas Legislature ends its first special session on Friday, and second that California lawmakers introduce their expected proposal that could offset the GOP gains in Texas.

A. It was NOT simply two demands. It was three. The missing demand was that a 'new special session' not be supported by the legislature. That demand is not, and will not be met.

B. Given point A above, Townhall's speculation about (sic)'both' conditions being met AND that the demoncraps will actually return are HIGHLY DUBIOUS.
