did I ever tells y'all that I am afraid of snakes?

I don't like them, they are unpredictable, some of them try to kill ya and succeed pretty fast (2 step viper for example) and they slither.

I cannot imagine being in a pit with LOTS of rattlesnakes. I think I would have my final heart attack.

Professor, when ya did this, wuz you still just learning and didn't know any better?
I don't like Garter snakes or black snakes, neither of which are poisonous, much less venomous ones. I was chased by a blue racer once. Those things are mean.

I know you Texicans use those snake skins for BOOTS and things and likely barbecue them later.
I'm a little too refined fer that kinda stuff. lol!!!!

Micro, had my 'snake learnin' early, 16 at the time.

Had a lot of fun working in the snattlerake skinning pit at the annual Howard County Jaycee's roundup. Barrel of rattlesnakes (already milked), in middle of sandy pit, reach in with 'snake catcher pole', noose a snake, chop its head off with a hand axe, string it up, skin it (save skins for belts and other uses), gut it and put it on a platter for delicious cooking by the kitchen folk.

Steel tipped heavy duty boots required for participating. Got really interesting when a snake would get loose. *S*
