Rattlesnake meat ain't it bad. Pardon the cliché, but it DOES taste a little like chicken. Unlike aliigator that ribit referred to earlier, which is more like eating calamari - 'cuz it's rubbery.

Micro, had my 'snake learnin' early, 16 at the time.

Had a lot of fun working in the snattlerake skinning pit at the annual Howard County Jaycee's roundup. Barrel of rattlesnakes (already milked), in middle of sandy pit, reach in with 'snake catcher pole', noose a snake, chop its head off with a hand axe, string it up, skin it (save skins for belts and other uses), gut it and put it on a platter for delicious cooking by the kitchen folk.

Steel tipped heavy duty boots required for participating. Got really interesting when a snake would get loose. *S*
