Out of Bounds: CNN Lead-In Highlights Absurdity of the WNBA’s Ongoing On-Court Sex Toys Debacle

http://twitchy.com/warren-squire/2025/08/09/cnn-leads-segment-wnba-is-cracking-down-on-sex-toys-being-thrown-onto-the-court-during-games-n2417027

The WNBA continues to show it’s a joke. The players are demanding larger salaries despite the league never turning a profit, jealous players are attacking Caitlan Clark on the court (the only player who has ever drawn interest in the league), and now the league is overreacting to "fans" throwing sex toys onto the court.

This latest embarrassing absurdity has created what has got to be one of the most ridiculous lead-ins to a CNN story we have ever heard.

Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) ~ CNN anchor leads off segment: "The WNBA is cracking down on dildos being thrown onto the court during games." How is this real?! 😂
Video ~ http://twitter.com/i/status/1954255288128942117

Of course, right after the CNN bimbo asked "What is this?" ... someone "dildoed" the CNN set!

Florida Pureblood (@Floridared1776) ~ {Replying to @WesternLensman} More like Babylon Bee material! 🤣🤣🤣

Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) ~ {Replying to @Floridared1776} This is CNN. 😂

Poor James Earl Jones!

Commenters jokingly say the league should embrace the stunt and make the games interactive. Make the sex toy toss a contest!

Brick Suit (@Brick_Suit) ~ {Replying to @WesternLensman} WNBA is gonna crack down on dildos? THEY SHOULD DOUBLE DOWN! Put targets on the court for fans to hit. 🎯

Fans just might accept that challenge and start practicing at home ...

Vincent Horatio Tortelli (@TortelliVinnie) ~ {Replying to @Brick_Suit and @WesternLensman} Minnesota, the home of Target, does, in fact, have a WNBA team. How do they handle that one?

Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) ~ {Replying to @Brick_Suit} They should definitely lean into it.

Wade Mitchell (@WadeMitchell17) ~ {Replying to @Brick_Suit and @WesternLensman} Can’t do that. Fans would wind up with a higher shooting percentage than most of the WNBA.

Yep ... their accuracy might just be such as to make William Tell proud!

Now that’s funny!

Possibly ...

Or, since they've already set precedent by stopping a WNBA game for an extended period of time because one player lost her ratty hairpiece on the floor, scooped it up, and ran off to the locker room, they could stop play, have one or more of the players "USE" the dildo, and throw it back into the crowd. Embracing a new, innovative form of sports memorabilia, eh?

Commenters were surprised to hear they missed a few phallic flings.

The Conservative Alternative (@OldeWorldOrder) ~ {Replying to @WesternLensman} It's really been 6 TIMES, already? 😅 Apparently, I haven't been paying attention!

Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) ~ {Replying to @OldeWorldOrder} Me neither. I thought it was just two times.

Brando Republic (@BrandoRepublic) ~ {Replying to @WesternLensman} Never in a MILLION years would I have thought this would ever be a story.

We had no idea these incidents were more widespread. Did CNN report these other tosses or just sit on them?

The league has never heard of the Streisand Effect. By bringing so much attention to the first incident and complaining incessantly about it, they've only encouraged more to try their hand at it.

Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) ~ {Replying to @BrandoRepublic} The general absurdity of the entire news cycle is really something else.

Harley Smith (@HarleySmit97410) ~ {Replying to @BrandoRepublic and @WesternLensman} It wouldn’t be if they would’ve just their mouths shut about the first one. Nobody watches their games ... nobody would’ve known.

It’s bringing attention to the league, but not the good kind. At least there’s something else to laugh at besides the airballs and missed layups.

Well, now ... because of all this attention ... Bill Nye "The Pseudo-Science Guy" says he is going to start some "investigative studies" ...
