Re: “AOMEI PE Builder I think that is the tool you need. ”
I was pretty sure my Microsoft Office 2007 disk would no longer install, but when I tried it today on the MSI laptop it install just fine. Once again, thanks, micro! It must be the OS-install disk that has aged out. Fortunately, I didn't need that disk today.

So the new laptop has Office and my all-important Access database on it. The only things I've been unable to port to it are Minecraft and Dragon Naturally Speaking. Fortunately, both are still on the previous laptop. It has some problems, but not with either of those programs.

When I finished installing Office, I remembered the old Windows 7 laptops bought in May. The HP Pavilion only needed Office and Access, so I went about installing them.

Meanwhile, my wife said she wanted to have a go at cracking the password security on the Dell Inspiron. So I turned that over to her. I forgot to mention your Aomei tool, though. Too bad.

When I checked in on her an hour later, she said she'd tried about five tools and none of them were free. "The last one, though was $25. I told it 'No' and it said 'Wait! We can let you use it for 7 days for $10" so she did that.

It worked. 4WinKey, which I've never heard of. $10. Not bad. I'm putting the thumb drive she used in a bag along with a note saying what it does and what today's date is. In the distant future, if there's another computer that needs cracking, we might be able to change its clock to 7/24/2025 and run the tool. Can't hurt to try.

So, we logged onto Roxanne's account and found everything deleted. (Should I search for a file-recovery tool? LOL. Naw, it's okay. I doubt she had anything I'd want.)

Now it's time to do another Office 2007 install. It takes surprisingly long on these old machines.

AOMEI PE Builder

I think that is the tool you need. As I recall, it has a 'password' utility that will enable one to wipe out the existing password and plug a new one in.

You should be able to 'build' a bootable USB. Set the BIOS to boot off the USB. Run the utility and change all the passwords (one at a time) to whatever you like.

Another option would be to get the drivers for the laptop . . Install Windows then add all the drivers.

Good Luck.
Zim.
