De,
I'm not sure if what you typed was aimed at me or just venting? (I was trying to be humorous.)

But I still maintain that the Bible and associated books were written by Man.

A long long time ago now I almost got roped into joining a 'Jesus Freak Cult'. A pretty girl to attract me in and a young dude to seal the deal. The guy kept telling me how the Bible was the 'Perfect Work of God'. It could have no errors. So I started reading and found a contradiction. Pointed it out to the dude and he told me "It must be an error of translation". And so I pointed out to him that if the Bible is the perfect work of God how could it have an 'error in translation'? And round and round we went.

I have come to the conclusion that 'I' can't prove God does not exist, and 'they' can not prove God does exist. So I would call myself an Agnostic.

And ALL of the 'Holy Texts' were written by Men. So I'm pretty sure that there were at least a few charlatans in the mix inserting things from which 'they' could extract wealth for themselves. Even today - there are stories about 'preachers' sexually abusing vulnerable members of their flocks . . . and the 'higher ups' covering for them.

I love our Constitution. And I am eternally grateful to have been born an American. With 'Freedom of Religion' as one of our Constitutional Rights.

It's mostly a dig at those who say everything in the Bible is true. That's clearly not the case.

Better to acknowledge the error and blame it on the translation - except there are some who won't allow for that, either. After all, that would require them to acknowledge a major error on the very first page of the Bible. How many other such blunders might their perfect book contain?

I'm always stunned and disheartened that people who appreciate critical thinking and know how to do it will not apply the skill to their religion. Catholic clergy even have an insulting name for those who do: "FREE THINKERS." Ow! What a horrible thing to call someone!
