A "bit surprised," eh? I think my reaction might be more like ...
The last time we went to Disney World was 20 years ago. We have relatives who have gone much more recently. In fact, they asked if we wanted to go along, too ... I said, "No thanks."
The tickets to get into the parks, the accommodations, and the food are downright extortionate. And ... well, I was about to say "nickel and dime," but I'm gonna have to amend that to ... they "five and ten dollar" you to death on all the other "little things" at the parks. On top of the horrific expense, you usually have to contend with suffocating crowds that really limit your ability to even enjoy the rides, shows, restaurants, and other events. I'm sorry, but there's just no value in it, in my humble opinion, AND I don't want to support a bunch perverted groomers who have absolutely no regard for the views and well-being of their customers.
