De: "What does Brave do for you?"

Brave is, I believe, the ORIGINAL privacy specific browser. I don't have any particular problems with the DDG browser, but I don't like the fact that it is wedded to company which profits from Duck Duck Go search; therefore I am suspicious.

I'd suggest you download Brave as well, and give it a try.

Brave is founded and run by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Eich, the creator of javascript, who previously worked on Netscape and Mozilla-Firefox. So his tech chops are impeccable -- especially given he has focussed on browsers for effectively his whole, long career. I like that. I also like that he has a well-documented history of acting on principle and well-documented mucho Libertarian bent.

Eich was the Mozilla CEO co-founder until he resigned because he refused to "bend the knee" to Woke-Democrat ideology which had infected the corporation. So his integrity and expertise with browsers coding and liberty is unparalleled.

DuckDuckGo's Founder and CEO is http://moneyinc.com/gabriel-weinberg/ He sounds good, also, but I don't know his backstory so well. MIT graduate. He has children. Although I am not as sure about the strength of his Liberty commitment (I just did a search trying to find any evidence he contributed to either political party during the last 10 oppressive years, and haven't found anything...yet...I will keep on searching).

By happenstance, Weinberg wrote two books -- and I happen to own them both. But haven't taken time to read either, up to now. I intend to fix that and it will likely give me more insight to what drives him.

Anyway, I find Brave super-tight and very innovative and easy to use. As I said, I have downloaded DuckDuckGo, as well, but didn't see any important feature I wasn't already getting from Brave. And DDG seemed to me to be slower and less convenient in added features. But that may just be that I haven't used it that much (haven't needed it).

Both browsers are Chrome-derived, I believe, which is increasingly important...unfortunately...as Google so completely dominates the web these days. Both have privacy as their primary selling point. And, as I already said, I prefer to separate browser and search engine, if at all possible.

I will make a point to play more with DDG so I will hopefully discover if my preference for Brave is objective enough.

Eich is very strongly independent and quite Libertarian. I really want to be super-sure Weinberg isn't somehow linked to Demon-Rat ideology. That is increasingly a deal-breaker for me. I really don't want to give Demon-rats a dime; although I confess I still use Amazon. (looking for a serious competitor for all the internet shopping I do; Walmart is just not a good fit in terms of price, shipping, and breadth of products.

Re: “What possible reason is there to use the DD browser?? Please enlighten me.”
It has ChatGPT built in, so ask away. (I think Grok is much better.) It has an ad-blocker built in. It has tracker-blocking built in, which both stops the tracking cookies and speeds up website loading. It comes with a Youtube Player (so Youtube can't track your viewing history.) It's a good choice for those who prioritize privacy.

But I place a higher value on certain extensions. I sure wish READ ALOUD or something like it was built into these high privacy browsers.

What does Brave do for you?
