Hmmm... Bowser Wars ???
Vivaldi is my 'primary' browser for web browsing.
It allows oodles of tabs without getting berserk, and without hogging system resources like memory, cpu, or disk-io. The latest upgrade added a so-called VPN at no charge - not sure how robust it actually is, but no set-up, no-maintenance, no-tweaking was demanded for it to be 'there'.
I have had Opera in the past - found it to be a pita - but can't remember why since so long ago. I left it behind more than 10 years ago.
I have an old copy of Torch for doing the 'torrent' thing - that was a no-fuss, no-muss, simple install and use browser, based on chrome. It is no longer available for download, install, or update. Any update attempt results in trying to replace Torch with the latest google - no thanks - so I just leave it alone.
Firefox USED to be my primary bowser - but imo, it has gone to absolute scheist. Just a single tab, it fires up close to 40 total 'firefox' processes, eats an incredible amount of memory (close to 2 gig for only 4 tabs or so), and absolutely HAMMERS THE LIVING CRAP out of disk-io.
BTW: WTF is up with the Win-10 Task Manager - only the current 'process id' is displayed, and the actual PARENT process id is nowhere to be found. Did the concept of 'sub-processes' just get tossed into the windows 'gone bin' ?
I refuse to browse with Chrome. Google violates user privacy with impunity, and sells things like 'a recovery phone number' to everbody and their bloody dogs. Not to mention their political agendas. I detest the Google 'We will control everything' attitude. I do use the 'googlevoice' phone ability - and use Chrome ONLY for that single application. Cheap second phone line - but it NOW requires your primary phone number (which Google will put on the market) to set it up. Originally, such was not required.
I do use Microslop Edge for streaming. It is moderarely high on memory usage, and moderate to heavy on disk io. But it is not the incredible RESOURCE HOG that firefox has become.
I used to use 'plug ins' to browsers, but broke that habit years ago. Don't really need any of the 'extensions' people think are neat, and maintaining, updating, troubleshootin' 'em just tain't worth the effort. Not to mention the many mysterious bugs that so many of them cause.
Looked at Brave a whilst ago, didn't really see anything in the 'gotta have/really need/much better' departments, so took a pass on it.
Oh, for the good ole days of simplicity. Remember what a joy it was to have NETSCAPE as your first browser, opening up a whole new dimension of interaction on ye-ole darpanet, and quickly leave all those ftp site lists in the rear-view ?

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good ...
