The Black Boxes will tell the tale, but I expect it to go something like this:

Pilot: "Raise the landing gear."

Co-pilot: [Raising the flaps.] "Check."

The plane drops like a rock. The pilot is baffled and thinks he's got a lack of thrust. Gives it more. Plane drops even faster. He issues a "Mayday." Ka-BOOOM!

That crash is actually covered in the Grok link I posted in reply to this same thread.

The first thing is: The crash isn't even confirmed (yet) to have happened, at least not from any reliable,reputable sources *which X is not* *s*.

And yes, it very well could have been pilot error, but equipment failure would not be out of consideration.

Also covered foreign operation/control in that session.
