Fascist playbook 101. Create the problem then use the military to “restore” law and order.

Look at who ICE is going after. They are ignoring the drug gangs. They arresting people as they show up for the court appointments.
That is, law-abiding people who are trying to integrate. They specifically target that demographic because it will cause a backlash.
They want these protests so they can escalate.

Trump pardoned more than 1500 violent thugs who violently attacked the capitol on his behalf on January 6.

Who the Republicans have now decided are eligible for employment in Homeland Security.

Trump is building up his army of Brown Shirts.

It's pretty clear which side today's republicans would have cheered back in 1930s Germany.
