...trump is like that grocery cart that has one wheel that wobbles. The only thing ya can say good about it is that it is better than all the others.

The many articles I see, even on generally pro-Trump sites, say the new tax bill will increase the US government deficit by at least 3.8 Trillion dollars, and maybe more like 5 Trillion. Since everything government does typically comes out costing much more than forecast, I am not questioning that this new tax bill, all other things being equal, looks like a 10-15% deficit increase.

My question for this board is: Why? What is it's purpose? I am presuming there is some sort of strategy behind this bill; what is it?

Maybe it is just as simple as Trump needs to keep the economy out of recession so Republicans have their best chance of winning the 2026 elections? Continued large government deficits and lower middle-class taxes this year and next could help?

Or is the bill more calculated than that? Does anyone know or have a particularly insightful article to link by way of an answer?

I would really appreciate any and all opinions, and especially anything which would serve as evidence of a strategy. Personally, I feel pretty sure I would have lost everything, absolutely everything, in another four years of totalitarian-Leninist perversion. So I am generally of the opinion that I should just try to support The Opposition to that ugliness, almost no matter what. But I would prefer to have a framework for this continued deficit spending -- a reason for why it might actually turn out to be more of an "investment" than just more pork.
