Possible.
But I'm 'flashing back' to something we did back in shop class while I was in Junior High.

Take a piece of steel, maybe a foot long. Big around as ones thumb. A kid can't bend it. (Not sure if any adults could bend it.)

If one applies high heat to the middle of the steel, first it glows - cherry red. Continue heating it and it turns white. Heat it some more and, eventually, it will melt into glowing liquid steel.

So, I remember this piece of steel heated up in the middle till it turned cherry red. Put on these BIG heat proof gloves. Pick up the steel and bend it into a pretzel.

So, in all three buildings there were fires. Burning long enough and hot enough to turn the steel cherry red . . . And it lost structural integrity and the building collapsed.

Zim.

Re: “Instead, the searing inferno caused the steel beams and girders to thermally expand and eventually buckle. This in turn led to a ‘cascade of floor failures’ and the building’s collapse.”
There was an earthquake in Taiwan last month in which a high rise under construction collapsed. What I've read is that it shouldn't have collapsed. But it did. Taiwan is now accusing its Chinese builders of using inferior materials.

So, maybe that's what happened with Building 7. It shouldn't have collapsed, but if it was made of inferior materials or shoddy workmanship, it could have.
