True Dat, De.
However, such a species would fall on the 'Passive' end of the scale and not see a need for interstellar travel.

Immortality itself lends some strange consequences. If your immortals are able to breed and produce more immortals . . . eventually they would have to expand off their planet and 'conquer the universe'. "Unable to die . . with a steadily increasing population" ???

Decomposed > Here's one: It could become a god, unable to be killed.

Hmmmm . . . How many Gods are there?
And is it really possible to have a thinking, sentient, being that can not be killed? Ahhh . . the Sci-Fi books just begging to be written.

Interesting conjecture. But a species will never eradicate itself if it masters the art of escaping war. It could escape into either time or distance, staying ahead of the war. It could escape into a parallel universe, if such a thing is possible. Here's one: It could become a god, unable to be killed. Or the species could entrust its rejuvenation to an immortal - perhaps another species, or perhaps machinery. You'll note that there is talk today of bringing back a number of extinct species. A species needs to find something more durable than itself entrusted to bring it back one day.
