Here's a theory for ya . . .

Imagine a scale. With 'Very Aggressive' on one end of the scale. And 'Very Passive' on the other end of the scale.

The 'Very Passive' species will get along with each other just fine. Because they are so 'easygoing' they will improve their technologies only up to a point. Just no ambition to 'go out and conquer the Universe'.

The 'Very Aggressive' do not 'play well with others' . . . Wars and such are the order of the day and technologies are developed at breakneck speed. These species tend to eventually develop and use weapons with which they exterminate themselves.

'Moderately Passive' species, likewise' are unlikely to develop the technologies for interstellar travel.

'Moderately Aggressive' species will develop the technologies for interstellar travel . . . But those technologies will be so 'energetic' using them for warlike purposes will then enable a few 'practitioners' to eradicate the species.

And, most species will have people from both ends of the spectrum mixed up on their populations . . . Upping the probability that a technology energetic enough to enable interstellar travel . . . Will, more than likely, be mis-used eventually.

#14. http://duckduckgo.com/?q=eric+weinstein+video+2025&t=ftsa&ia=videos&iax=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DiQOibpIDx-4

Completely implausible, I would have said. I'm not so sure any more.

To really think about this properly, you need more of a back-story. Well, Weinstein is not a "nobody" -- he knows more about math and physics and money and government and, well, pretty much anything which might touch on in the rarified realms of advanced physics, deep math, finance, and what the people who run the world are really like, than anyone here...by a very large margin, I imagine.

HE thinks "the world" is being actively blocked from advancing physics and that this has been going on since he first encountered it, at Harvard, while getting his PhD in advanced mathematics, back in the 1970s/1980s.

But I previously also posted a link to an interview with an astrophysicist who detailed, in a step by step manner, just how unlikely it is that we have not yet seen undeniable evidence of alien civilization...because there are no advanced alien civilizations. You don't need faster than light speed to completely colonize the galaxy in less than a million years. So, are we to believe there are ZERO other sufficiently intelligent technological civilizations EVER in our galaxy? That we are that much of an oddity?

Is the prior existence of another technological civilization in our galaxy really LESS than the odds that there IS such a civilization that would -- rationally -- prefer our "psychotically murderous" civilization not infest the galaxy?

So here we go!
