http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teIKJXXLDbk The whole interview is worth some attention, IMO, but, then, I have been following Weinstein, and his PhD (evolutionary biology) brother Brett, for some time.
However, I thought, in particular, you might enjoy his take on the fever of investment, fears, and dreams currently surrounding the "AI" space. This picks up speed around the 30 minute mark, where he begins discussing how a creature without a brain (a flower) can completely fool a creature WITH a brain: a fish, so completely, over, and over, and over again.
I also follow Eric because he has a lot of more-than-slightly interesting things to say about a wide range of things of considerable consequence: but particularly cutting edge physics...and the world of money. https://ericweinstein.org/
He has a PhD from Harvard in "Mathematical Physics" but spent a good portion of his working life helping direct Peter Thiel's investments.
So, what does he think of today's physics? At the risk of possibly misrepresenting him due to my limited knowledge, HE FEELS THAT PHYSICS HAS BEEN FUNDAMENTALLY CRIPPLED, as if on purpose, since about 1970.
Now, "who" would want to do that? Who would have means, motive, and opportunity? That is where it gets interesting. Really interesting. But I will let you do some sleuthing around on your own, toward your own conclusions.
What I will say, specifically, is that he feels mathematical physics was closing in, fast, on some amazing things, in particularly Faster Than Light travel, when "String Theory" was introduced and began to capture effectively ALL funding, and all institutional and "governmental" support.
Is that possible? Was Covid possible? Was Trump possible? Are banksters and Ponzi money possible? At some point, we should suspect we haven't been given the whole story. AND that we are being heavily manipulated and brainwashed. You can call that "managed" or "governed" if you like. But by whom. And towards what purpose? Who wouldn't want physics to take the world to a potentially vastly better place ... versus the very much "rats in a cage" experience we are otherwise forced to fight each other in, for limited resources, and very (artificially?) limited opportunities.
