I personally think it is a combination of both Russian ineptitude and Ukrainian superior military performance.
I keep reading that Ukraine is currently a world leader in drone technologies and tactics.
I also keep reading that Russia has a severe corruption problem - particularly with their military.
I have also read where . . in WWII we Americans had combat medics. In Korea it was 'MASH' units and helicopter evacuations. Vietnam perfected those arts. And 'We' just keep on improving medical care for the troops. (At least in the war zones.) And I've read where the Russians have almost no 'battlefield treatment' personnel. And that the Ukrainians have been learning from U.S. and do a good job of treating and saving their wounded.
Before the invasion I'm pretty sure the 'Red Army' severely outnumbered the Ukrainians. But, between Trump giving Ukraine those Javelin anti-tank weapons and their own ingenuity, training, and use of good tactics the Ukrainians, pound for pound, kicked the Red Army's Tails.
I think it demonstrates just how over rated the VAUNTED Russian military really AIN'T a lot more than the superiority of Ukraine's "military".
I give the men over there props for going to stand in harm's way at the price of their own lives and slowing down the Rooskies but I also think it shows how over rated Russia's army really is.
