Obviously, De,
The USSR and Russia were two different 'political entities'. The USSR stretched from East Germany all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Today's Russia is now East of Ukraine to the Pacific. Around 1990 the USSR imploded and shattered into some 15 different countries. Most of which have no desire to 'rejoin the USSR'.

But what you miss and I clearly recognize, is that the same imperialistic (empire building?) tendencies that begat the old USSR are in play with putin's Russia.

Unquestionably since my statement was about you. It was, however, mostly 'heavy sarcasm' and I hope you picked up on that. I knew you couldn't be serious in questioning whether Russia and the Soviet Union were the same country. Sarcasm, therefore, seemed necessary.
