There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to understand the physical world around us. God made us to be curious creatures. So, that's all good ... BUT, using our limited intellect to try to understand the physical workings of this universe does not give us insight into the unknowable mind of God. We can certainly try to comprehend some of what God physically put in motion around us, but we don't have the capacity to see into, let alone understand, the mind of God.

Re: “What use is it?
It speaks to the majesty and power of God - ”
Ah. See, the universe is what does that for me. That's why I enjoy its beauty and mystery, and - on occasion - learning how it works. It's like seeing into the mind of God.

If you get that from the Bible, then you should stick with it!
